Ironfarmers commenced business in 1991, particularly selecting the Central Queensland area because there was no-one else catering to the vast expansion of Land Development and Improvement underway and needed in the area to sustain and expand the beef cattle, farming and grazing industry.
Initially, Ian selectively cleared the 40 acre property with a Caterpillar Direct Drive D8K, followed up with racking and improving with a Caterpillar D6B. To date the weed control is maintained with a Boom Spray and Spot Spray unit on his original 1965 Land Cruiser. These 40 acres can now sustain and feed more native flora and fauna and introduced species including human beings more efficiently and more comfortably than the 4000 acres surrounding, which is not managed as efficiently.
